In the city of Rosario, province of Santa Fe, a tragedy occurred in which a mother, Tania Daniela Gandolfi, 41 years old, and her teenage daughter, Agustina Magalí García, 16 years old, lost their lives after being struck by a man driving at high speed. The accident took place on Tuesday night in the Costanera area of the city.
The incident occurred when a Peugeot 206 lost control, mounted the sidewalk, and hit the tourists from Córdoba who were walking in Rosario. Additionally, a 6-year-old girl was seriously injured and was taken to the Víctor J. Vilela Children’s Hospital with head and chest trauma.
Although there is no official confirmation, it is suspected that the driver of the car and a motorcyclist may have been racing in the city center. Despite the shocking images of the vehicle after the accident, the driver suffered minor injuries and was arrested along with the motorcyclist.
Prosecutor Mariana Prunotto, in charge of the investigation for Involuntary Homicides, requested security cameras from the area to determine whether an illegal race was indeed taking place at the time of the accident. A witness to the incident described what happened in the Parque España area, stating that both the motorcycle and the car were traveling at high speed, and that the driver of the car lost control, resulting in the tragic collision that ended the lives of the two women.
Diego, the witness, mentioned: "I saw the car didn’t brake, turned, and lost control, crashing into a traffic light and hitting a girl. I saw her fly." The authorities continue to investigate the case to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident and determine the corresponding responsibilities.
